To my dear children who are overseas. I pray that God’s blessings will always be with you all as we welcome the new year.
You probably know the news from Seoul well from your mother’s long letters, which are like the Great Wall of China, so I won’t repeat them. However, I will let you know that my plan is to trust in this natural law and work hard on farming this year, as the unusually cold winter will eventually recede and spring is just around the corner.
I plan to personally take care of our estate in Hoengseong, which I have only visited a few times a year and left to others. I will put my heart and soul into everything from landscaping and looking into economic feasibility. I hope you have high expectations about the outcome.
😜
I went there last winter, read a lot of books, and meditated deeply. I heard that the snow had piled up so much that I couldn’t even go up the mountain behind my house. I believe that the snow will become nutrients and the trees will grow even more vigorously in the new spring. I think that taking good care of a mountain is actually a meaningful thing.
After all, it is pathetic to just loiter around in Seoul and visit teahouses? First, I will send you a few photos of the winter scenery of Hoengseong Mountain. The snow piled up on the lawn behind the house, the memorial monument to Uncle Ganyeong, and the outhouse in the barn that Dangseon bravely entered and used. Later, when the flowers bloom, I will take more photos of the beautiful scenery and send them to you. Today, I am writing this in a hurry because the time is near for your brother in law who is battling cancer and we need to return to Seoul…
